A joyful celebration of teamwork, sportsmanship, and believing in yourself
I’m thrilled to share some exciting news—Twins Mac & Madi Play Field Hockey has been named a Maincrest Media Book Award Winner in the Children’s category! This honor is deeply meaningful and affirms the heart and purpose behind the Twins Mac & Madi book series: inspiring young readers to play fair, support one another, and believe in themselves—on the field and beyond.

The Maincrest Media Book Award Program is known for setting a benchmark for excellence within the publishing community. Each submitted book is carefully reviewed by a respected panel of seasoned industry professionals who evaluate quality, creativity, and impact—especially what truly resonates with today’s readers and families. To be recognized among such outstanding children’s books is an incredible honor.
A Story That Celebrates the True Spirit of Sports
Illustrated beautifully by Marie Delon, Twins Mac & Madi Play Field Hockey is the eighth installment in the beloved Mac & Madi series. The story follows spirited twin sisters Mac and Madi, the youngest players on their field hockey team, the Ladybugs. Full of enthusiasm and heart, the twins learn how to develop their skills while supporting their teammates and playing the game the right way.
As the season unfolds, the Ladybugs face a formidable challenge: the Fireflies—a team known for winning at all costs and not always playing fair. In a tense final game, Mac is unfairly tripped near the end, and the referee doesn’t see the foul. With the score tied and the pressure on, Mac must make a powerful choice:
Retaliate—or play with honor.
Encouraged by her sister Madi, her teammates, and a supportive coach, Mac chooses integrity over anger. The Ladybugs continue to play with courage, teamwork, and strength—and in the final seconds, Mac scores the winning goal. Yet the true victory isn’t the score—it’s how they chose to play.
As the book reminds readers:
“It’s not just about winning, but also how you play, with kindness, respect, and joy every day.”
More Than a Game—A Life Lesson
At its core, Twins Mac & Madi Play Field Hockey highlights the importance of sportsmanship, perseverance, and resilience. It encourages children to follow the rules, support their teammates, and handle both wins and losses with dignity. Obstacles aren’t portrayed as failures, but as opportunities to grow—an empowering message for young athletes and readers alike.
This book has become a meaningful resource for parents, educators, and coaches who want to teach children the true essence of competition: that character, friendships, and love of the game matter far more than trophies or titles.
A Grateful Moment
“I am incredibly honored to have received the Maincrest Media Book Award for Twins Mac & Madi Play Field Hockey*. This recognition means so much because the heart of this book is about inspiring young girls to try sports, believe in themselves, and understand the power of teamwork, confidence, and perseverance. If this story helps even one child feel brave enough to pick up a stick, step onto a field, or chase a new dream, then it has truly done its job.”
Designed for children ages 3–8 who love sports, this award celebrates creativity, collaboration, and the values we hope to pass on to the next generation.
